Your Guide to Omega-3

Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA)

What is Omega-3 or ALA?

ALA is one of two essential fatty acids. Omega-6 or linoleic acid (LA) is the other essential fatty acid.

It's Essential because we must get these fats from our diet. Our body does not manufacture ALA or omega-6 on its own.

ALA converts to EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) in the body and is classified as a polyunsaturated fat.

Polyunsaturated Fats remain liquid when refrigerated or frozen unlike saturated fats which are solid and monounsaturated fats, like olive oil, which are liquid at room temperature but harden when refrigerated.

The Health Benefits of ALA can not be over emphasized! Scientific research has shown that ALA, EPA and DHA help us to prevent diseases such as cancer, heart disease, depression and much more...

The Benefits of ALA, EPA and DHA

  • Improved Concentration and Memory

  • Protection for Cell Membranes

  • Healthy Nervous System Function

  • Improvement in Cholesterol and Triglyceride Levels

  • Supports a Strong Immune System

  • Relief Help for PMS Symptoms

  • Strengthens the Cardiovascular System

  • Counteracts the Damaging Effects of Aging

The Best Sources for ALA, EPA and DHA

Dietary Sources of ALA include: flax seeds, flax oil, walnuts, hemp seeds, soybeans and some dark leafy green vegetables.

These Fats can also be obtained from eating cold water fish such as, salmon, halibut, tuna and herring. In addition, certain types of algae contain DHA.

EPA is known for its role in preventing cardiovascular disease and DHA is necessary for proper brain and nerve function.

What About Supplements?

The Fact is most Americans are eating way too much Omega-6, found in oils and animal foods but not enough Omega-3 which is mainly derived from the unpopular vegetarian sources previously mentioned.

Most Americans should take a high-powered, fish oil supplement containing Neptune Krill Oil.

Neptune Krill Oil has over 300 times the antioxidant power of Vitamin A and E plus over 47 times the antioxidant power of regular fish oil supplements.

Bottom Line... Poor dietary choices and overly-processed foods are creating deficiencies in ALA, EPA and DHA. But the good news is there is an alternative...

A Unique Blend of Antioxidants,
Neptune Krill Oil and Omega-3

Why is a Supplement Important?

Most Americans are not consuming enough ALA fatty acids. Even worse, Americans are eating about 10 times too many Omega-6 fatty acids which promotes the production of inflammation causing chemicals in the body. We can create a better balance to prevent disease and improve the quality of our life.

The Proper Ratio, according to most health experts, is around 2:1 omega-6 to omega-3. The problem is that the Standard American Diet (SAD) creates an unhealthy ratio of about 20:1!

Prograde EFA ICON can help. It is more stable than conventional fish oil and more resistant to rancidity. This means it will last longer and be more easily-absorbed within your body. In addition, you will not experience fishy breathe, belching or reflux that is common with other fish oil supplements.
