Enjoy a raw foods diet which includes unprocessed and uncooked plant foods, such as fresh fruit and vegetables, sprouts, seeds, nuts, grains, beans, dried fruit and seaweed.
Forget Cooking - avoid heating foods above 116 degrees F. This can destroy enzymes that assist in the digestion and absorption of food.
Raw Food Expert, David Wolfe says...
Raw Food has life force in it.
A cooked seed wont grow, a raw seed will.
The raw food diet contains no trans-fatty acids and less saturated fat than the typical Western diet. These plant-based foods are low in sodium and high in potassium, magnesium, folate, fiber and health-promoting phytonutrients.
The Guidelines
ADD unprocessed, preferably organic, whole foods such as:
Fresh Fruits and Vegetables
Nuts and Seeds
Grains and Beans
Dried fruit
Seaweed
How Do You Cook the Food?
Special cooking techniques used to make your food more digestible plus add variety to the diet, include:
Sprouting Seeds, Grains, and Beans
Juicing Fruits and Vegetables
Soaking Nuts and Dried Fruit
Blending
Dehydrating food
Your Choice of Equipment
A dehydrator, a piece of equipment that blows air through food at a temperature of less than 116 degrees F.
A good-quality juice extractor for juicing fruits and vegetables.
A blender, food processor or chopper to save time.
Large glass containers to soak and sprout seeds, grains and beans.
Mason jars for storing sprouts and other food.
What are the Side Effects?
For me, a happier and healthier life. But, keep in mind, some of you may experience a detoxification reaction when starting a raw food diet - especially if your diet (prior to changing) was rich in meat, sugar and caffeine.
Symptoms may include a mild headache, nausea and cravings that may last for several days.
